How to Register for GI Tags ?

GI Tag is provided by Office of The Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trade Marks, Mumbai. You have to fill a application Form – GI Form and sent it to the following address

The application can be filed by 

1. association of persons or
2.  producers or 
3. any organization or 
4. any authority  

who represent the interest of producers of the concerned goods.

Then preliminary scrutiny and examination will be done, show cause notice may be issued and then it will be published in geographical Indications Journal.

If no opposition of registration is received, then the product will get GI Tag.
