Durand Cup is named after its founder  Sir Henry Mortimer Durand. He was a foreign secretary in British India. This football match began as a football tournament among different departments and Army Regiment in the British Time.

The 1st Durand Cup was held in 1888 in Shimla. Mohun Bagan AC and East bengal Club have won 16 times each and the highest victory. Last Year i.e 2021 Goa FC is the holder of Durand Cup.

MATCHES IN DURAND CUP 2022

Durand Cup 2022 will be held from 16th August , 2022. There will be 40 matches played between 20 teams divided into 4 group. 8 teams i.e 2 team from 4 group s will be qualified to enter quarter finals.
