ABOUT GU IDOL
The Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) was established in May 1998. It was formerly known as Post Graduate Correspondence School (PGCS). The Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) will complete 24 years of successful existence in May 2022.
GU IDOL aims to continue the mission of spreading and providing quality education to the students. It started with 514 students and 6 courses in May 1998. Now IDOL has an enrollment of more than fifteen thousand students in several programmes in a learning environment equipped with the latest technologies.
Apart from self-learning materials and counseling services, IDOL aims to maximize learning opportunities. GU IDOL developed the first E-learning portal of the North-East, www.bodhidroom.idolgu.in in collaboration with Radio Luit. Radio Luit is a Community Radio Center.
OBJECTIVE OF GU IDOL
The objective of GU IDOLis to ensure the opportunity to pursue quality higher education to the large number of students who could not pursue higher education through conventional mode of education. Moreover aims to impart quality education in an intellectually challenging learning environment.
IDOL gives admission to the students who cannot enroll in the conventional system of higher education due to various factors. Some of the factors are listed below.
- Limited number of seats in Post Graduate classes in various colleges of Assam
- Livelihood compulsion etc.
- People working in Government jobs and want higher education.
- Students who cannot attend regular class.
GUWAHATI UNIVERSITY IDOL RESULTS
GU IDOL provides 2 kinds of Result. They are
- Summary Result
- Detailed Result
SUMMARY GU IDOL RESULT
In the summary result of GU IDOL only a comprehensive result is shown. The result sheet have the following data
- Total Students Appeared
- List of Students who have cleared all the papers along with their Roll Number
- List of Students who have partially cleared the semester along with their Roll Number
- List of withheld candidates along with their Roll Number

DETAILED GU IDOL RESULT [MARKSHEET]
In the detailed GU IDOL result you get a detailed marksheet for each semester. It will contailed marks subject wise you have appeared for that semester.
Some of the details shown in the detailed GU IDOL result is shown below.
- Your personal details like name, roll number and photo
- Courses or subject you have appeared in that semester
- Pass marks need to pass that semester and total marks

EXAMINATION OF GU IDOL
There are 3 types of examinations conducted by GU IDOL. They are
- Internal Assessment Examination
- Project or Practical Examination
- Theory Examination
INTERNAL ASSESSMENT EXAMINATION (MULTIPLE CHOICE)
As a part of continuous evaluation, an internal assessment examination is held for all the programs under GU IDOL. The examination is a multiple choice question based examination conducted on OMR Sheet. You will get GU IDOL result of Internal assessment after theory examination is completed.
The total marks of internal assessment of GU IDOL is 20% of total marks for each course or paper. I will provide how many marks will be conducted for the internal test.

THEORY EXAMINATION (SUBJECTIVE)
Apart from internal assessment examination, subjective theory examination is held for all the programs under GU IDOL. The examination is a subjective type where you have to write pages of paper for questions asked.
The total marks of internal assessment of GU IDOL is 80% of total marks for each course or paper. I will provide how many marks will be conducted for the internal test.

PASSING EXAMINATION UNDER GU IDOL
Each semester under GU IDOL contains 4 or 5 subjects. For each subject there is this 2 types of examination. They are listed below.
- Internal Assessment Examination
- Theory Examination
Few subjects have Project or Practical Examination.
It is compulsory for all the students to appear for both Internal Assessment Examination and Theory Examination. Moreover it is compulsory to pass both the Internal Assessment Examination and Theory Examination separately and individually.
The above state means that you have to obtain passing marks i.e 45% of total marks conducted in internal Assessment Examination and Theory Examination in each subject. You have to pass both internal assessment examination and theory examination
APPEARING FOR ARREAR PAPER
The students can appear for the back paper of internal assessment examination and theory examination. But you have to take the following points to your notice.
- Backpaper and Betterment is not allowed together in a particular Semester.
- Betterment is allowed for two papers only and those learners have to pass all papers of the semester in the last Examination session in a single attempt.
GARDE OR CLASS OF GU IDOL RESULT
The students of GU IDOL can get only 3 kinds of class or Grade. They are listed below.
- First Class (Class I)
- Second Class (Class II )
- Not Cleared
FIRST CLASS (CLASS I )
If you obtained a percentage of 60% or above you are given grade I or First Class under GU IDOL result. There is no First Class with distinction.
The total marks in most of the PostGraduate Programme under GU IDOL is 400 marks so to get First Class you have to get the following marks

SECOND CLASS (CLASS II )
If you obtained a percentage 45% or above but below 60 you are given grade II or second class. There is no Third Class.
The total marks in most of the PostGraduate Programme under GU IDOL is 400 marks so to get Second Class you have to get the following marks

NOT CLEARED [FAILED]
If you obtained a percentage below 45% you will be declared not cleared. That means you have to give the exam again.
